This proposal involves a change of use from commercial / office to build to rent apartments. The site sits at a key junction at the entrance of the town, making it a prominent landmark. The scheme includes food, beverage and cafe units at ground level, and on the upper levels, 67 apartments along with work and meeting spaces, gymnasium, cinema, yoga/pilates studio, communal planted terrace, and two penthouse levels.
The new additional fourth and fifth floors are set back from the main facade, and have an alternating glazed and vertical louvered envelope. The intention of the glazed envelope is to help break down the scale of the existing building and reduce the impact of this level. Two light wells run down through the building filtering into all floors.
