Tudor Road Extension

The compromises dictated by the narrow site on the LUAS line were responded to by creating a rhythmic, visually arresting extension which opens up glimpses of the stars and creates an ever changing view depending on the weather.

A single storey extension created on this narrow site was designed in response to the conditions of its context. A side passage was preserved along the length of the house and the space within opens up to this passageway in a series of framed views. The length of wall is a mix of five solid sections and five glazed sections setting out a contemporary language and opening up the space to light and the outside views. The external skin has a rough board-marked cast-in situ concrete skin. A polished concrete floor unites the internal and external language of materiality.
